Flip-key for mazda 3

this weekend, I got a flip key, the recomended part #s from this thread, for my new mazda3 (about 1m old, so, assuming an 8.5, but I could look if anyone wants to know). They key works great, programing was a breeze. The remote, however, not so much. I know i've got the car in the programing mode, as i'm able to get response from my other remotes, but it dosn't respond at all to the flip remote, and of course, after exiting the programing mode, dosn't work.

Perhaps some change in the 8 or 8.5? Anyone have any luck programing the remote pictured with a very recent model? I do get a light on the remote with button presses, so, fairly sure it's not a battery issue. Could be a bad remote, but i'd have no way of determining that without getting another one, which I'm understandably reluctant to do without ensuring there hasn't been some kind of compatability change.

K I just got flipkey for my 08.5gt and works great, where did you get it from? and which car is it from? it has to be mazda5 or rx8 i think. And you gotta follow the programming instructions carefully but quick. Also use one of your other remotes in your ignition not your flipkey. Becasue whatever is in the ignition will not get programmed but other 2 will. Try to redo it.

Just picked it up yesterday from Joe, and got it programmed this morning, took me few tries. Remember, as it says on the instruction, the timing is crucial.

I got the key and remote from my dealer, I gave them the Mazda part numbers listed elsewhere in this thread.

I tried it with both the remote and a different key in the ignition, nither worked. However, I doubt it's a timing issue. For one, Timing isn't nearly the issue for the remote procedure as it is for the key procedure. Remember, My key works great! The remote programing is what is causing the issue.

I got a slightly different remote that is purported to work better, dosn't have the trunk button, etc.

However, on a very sad note, I won't be able to do any more testing at all on this until late july. My wife rear ended an SUV last week, so, I'll not be seeing my poor mazda for some time. So, I have no idea if my new remote will work, or if any suggestions folks can offer will work.

You shouldn't have any issues at all. As long as you have 2 original keys and 2 original remotes you're good to go.

Note: All 2007+ US Mz3 models (MS3 included) have a different KEU than that in earlier models. Currently there are NO flip key remotes that can be programmed with the US 2007 Mz3 computer. Canadian owners should still be able to buy the Canadian Mz3 flip key.

Mazda 6 according to FLIP. Just got mine from him today and helped me program all three. Works like a charm and now I don't have extra keys poking in my pants!

So Joe, that replacement remote I got from you, could I not have bought a 3-button remote instead of the 4-button one? Or is the 3-button bottom incompatible with my CX-7 top?

You need to use your original key inserted into ignition, that way the other 2(original key, flip key) will get programmed

Just got the Flip-key from Joe and I love it. I have to figure out how to put a larger key ring on it though to handle all my other keys.

Please read the question carefully. The key part of what is mentioned in this thread works fine for US vehicles. The remote portion, however, DOES NOT. Another poster found what I did, after some further digging. ALL US MAZDA3'S 07 AND LATER DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY FLIP REMOTE CURRENTLY KNOWN.

The key works fine, and in fact, I'm using mine now that I have my car back. However, the fact that the remote doesn't work kind of defeats part of the point of having a flip key, namely, less crap on my keychain.

Note, as far as I can tell from searching, this only applies to US vehicles. I realize this is a Canadian forum, but it is also one of the top, if not THE top, search result on Google for a Mazda3 flip key, so you're probably going to see a lot of US visitors as well, and it pays to be clear that this thread does not work completely for new model US cars.

That is, unless ANYONE has any experience to the contrary, with the REMOTE portion of the flip key working (not JUST the key portion)

Maybe U.S. customers can only use the remote available on the Speed 3? It's the same 3-button remote found on the Mazda 6 hatch.
