Sorry guys, I didnt keep up on this thread.
I have tuned myself, and it OK, but not great. Its rich, but safe for now. I plan on having it tuned ($600ish) at Neetronics in Mississauga. Thats all they do, literally.... tune cars (mostly boosted).
Jason - I didnt know you were looking at boosting! I could have shown you my setup when you were at the shop Sat.

not really; you still have to have some pressure on the turbo to spool the turbine. that pressure comes from two places: expanding exhaust gas, and the pressure induced on the expanding gas by the cylinder on the exhaust stroke.
it still takes some energy away, it's just the loss isn't as significant. the TPE kit was supposedly developed from their involvement with Mazdaspeed for the MPS version of the 3. might be worth looking at.
There is a theory which states that a billion monkeys pounding on a billion keyboards will eventually produce the works of Shakespeare.
Thanks to the Internet, we now know this theory is wrong.
^ Agreed, I suppose it is somewhat inaccurate of me to state that a turbo 'spools for free'. Personally, when I think of back pressure vs parasitic drag two different things come to mind.
The turbo will create some amount of back pressure in the mani and cylinder, which I guess you could define as parasitic drag, but I wouldn't put it in the same category as a supercharger. The supercharger is belt driven directly by the engine where the turbo is, as you have stated, driven by gases. This, for me, is the difference between parasitic drag and back pressure.
I agree that someone in market for power adders should look at both products (if the supercharger comes to market). I would warn anyone to do their research though as superchargers and turbos have different pros and cons, including power characteristics.
I'll try and make it a point to have it out that day.
What kit did you use btw? I still haven't ordered it and after two weeks with only 148hp I need my turbo!
As well the only upside of a supercharger I can think of right now is no turbo lag. But with a smaller turbo charger I'm not sure if thats an issue, but I do have a smaller engine (2.0)...
Have you looked at the classifieds? Boris is selling his turbo kit
