I got the key cut at Home Depot free of charge. Programming was just under $80 including tax at Probart Mazda here in London.

Got the flipkey from Joe last week and programmed it myself.
Works great and feels great! One of my buddies has a flip key for his golf and he kept complimenting on how the mazda one feels a lot more solid.

    Hey quick question:

Are these flip-keys the ones from the 2010 3's? Any pics?

Does anyone know the specs of the 2010 ones? They look the same, but I'm not sure if the remote transmitter is the same.

I am currently looking for a spare set of flipkey + remote for my 2009 Mazda 6 (Canada). I've tried a couple of ebay sellers without any luck because we are in Canada. Here is what I've found out from the local Mazda dealership:

    KEY G2YA-76-2GXB $68.36
REMOTE GS4B-67-5RYA $154.58 (dealer claimed this is different from 2008)

Of course, I am not going to buy them at that price from the dealership. But I could not find a reliable source/shop to get the remote part of the set. The remote part # is different from "GP9C675RYB" and I am wondering if it's a different remote for sure for the 2009 Mazda 6 (Canada)?

Further more, when I opened the key, I've found the following:
    5WK43451D
    HP315MHZ
    032908

    No FCC# or ID#.....

    Any suggestion or advice?

I just wanted to keep the forum updated on my quest of finding a spare switchblade key.
Because the 2009 Mazda 6 were giving me a lot of problems (for a brand new car), I actually ended up with a 2010 Mazda 6. This time around, I have the FCC ID (BGBX1T478SKE12501SKE125-01) and was able to find a seller on ebay that carried a “4 button” switchblade key for the Mazda 6. Most of the SKE12501 remotes are of 3-button version on the web. Note: I don't think the part number matters much if you have the correct FCC ID...

The most difficult part of the whole thing was finding the correct remote with the matching FCC ID. And then, getting the key cut at local locksmith. The easiest part being the programming the key fob and the remote using instructions found on many Mazda forums.

It's good to have a cheap spare key.

I think this remote (FCC ID: BGBX1T478SKE125-01.) will work for 2010 M3, 5 and 6.

My remote just died, so I may as well do the flip key thing. Thing is, I bought my car used and only got 1 key and remote, so I'm gonna have to get a dealership to program it.

Getting the key section, the remote, having the key cut and then the remote programmed... This is going to be at least $300, isn't it?

I paid less than $50 for the key off ebay, got Home Depot to cut it for free, then paid the dealer $80 to program it.

Actually no, there is no need to get it programmed from the dealer. If you purchase it from Joe at MoT, he will cut the key for you free of charge and you can program it yourself. It comes with instructions on how to program and it can be done in like 4 minutes. Its extremely easy to do.

As for having only 1 key, i think that will work too. Because from what I recall, you stick your original key in first, and then u put in the flip key and u do something. The instructions are on the site somewhere, i've seen it. You need to search it up. Im pretty sure you only need 1 key to program it

From what I've read, you will need two keys to program the 3rd key. But for remotes, you can program the 2nd one even if you just have one.
Think about this, key is more important than remote. If it only takes one key to program the spare key, any friend or person that borrow the car from you can potentially have a dup. key...

You need 2 original keys to add a 3rd one. If you only have 1 you hae to visit the dealer.

As for adding a 2nd remote as long as you have 1 it's the same procedure to program it.

So I ordered the Miata 05 key, and attempting to find a cheaper blank on e-bay.
Any news on wether or not it works well with the 05 Mz3 sport?

If you physically look at the key, it has the FCC ID on it. You need to separate the key part from the fob, and it says on the inside the FCC ID.

If you don't have any remote at all. I think you can program it because everytime you do, it will erase the old remote from ECU (I think what it called) which wait for program remote to responde to it (Max out 3 remotes).

I think this (FCC ID: BGBX1T478SKE125-01.) will also work for 2009, if you know someone has it then ask them let you borrow and try to program it. If it works then you know what FCC ID you're looking for.

Do I need to have a new key cut or can I just use the key part from my old flip remote?

You're going to need a new key. You can buy blank key blades for the remote on ebay for ~$10 i think.

This is correct. The key is a part of the flip key.

If your key is still working there is no reason not to transfer it to the new remote.
