    Default Looking for a Mazda 3 2007 - 2010 demo

    Hello Everyone

I've been reading the different posts and got alot of great information so far. It's great that these forums exist with people who supply good feedback and advice along with some of the dealers on this site as well.

    I have a few questions.

    1) Am I living a pipedream thinking I can get a 2008/9 with Under 40,000km for under $13,000 all in with Auto, A/C, power package? I've checked the kelly blue book and the Cdn Black book prices and it seems reasonable. What are some other things outside of Book price I should be aware of for used cars. Buying new is straight forward. Is what I'm looking to pay reasonable?

    2) Does paying cash make a difference when buying used vs financing from a dealer persective?

    3) How can Mazda of orangeville sell a 2010 M3 Sport GX hatchback (red) for $13,988 Demo with 7,231km? I'm tempted but from what I read this is a lost leader price to get you to go.

    4) Has anyone heard of Oakville Auto Sales Inc? how are they? They have an 2008 Mazda 3 auto with alloys and power package with A/C asking $11,290 with 49,000km. Is there any advantage to dealing with a dealership rather than a independant. ( they note on their website they only handle Mazda, nissan,Honda cars). What do I miss out by not dealing with a dealership if the car still has warranty left?

I would personally run away as fast as possible selling a car too cheap....you always pay what you get for.

    1) Are you living a pipedream?.....$13000 is a little low for a 08 with under 40k kms for a top of the line, you will be able to find some good lower level models for that price.

    2) Cash is KING, if you have 13k pay for the car outright....why give a bank 5% (if not more??)

    3) I know a lot of Mazda dealers have "demos" that are old rental cars. My gf has an ex rental, its a decent car and shes had no problems....but I know how I treat all my rentals and I would never own one. It could be a lead price....but who cares, go in and see. I don't know any dealership that locks you in a cage and forces you to buy a car because you saw a deal in the paper.

    4) Oakville Auto Sales....never heard of them, but I'm from Toronto. Do a search with the Ontairo Motor Vehicle Industry Council and Better Business Beareu and look for complaints. Also it's pretty easy to spot a shitty dealer. Is the place a dump, are they shady (for example do they want a credit card depoist for you to test drive the car) are all the cars on the lot in good shape, is the car advertised with "new tires" and they are a cheap brand and most of all are they high pressure?

4.1) Dealing with a dealer, you don't miss anything. If the car warranty should be transferable as long as you get all the records and ALL scheduled maintence has been done and can be proven.

It sounds like this may be your first car. The best thing you can do is go and see as many cars as possible, get a feeling about what a good dealership feels like (like Mazda of Toronto) so you can figure out what a bad dealership feels like and find the exact car that you want. Use the net to do your research, you will soon be the master of knowledge about what cars are on the market and go for a lot of testdrives. When you narrow down your choice ALWAYS get a mechanic not associated with the dealer (or private owner) to inspect the car. It will cost about $100 but could save you from buying a POS that will cost you thousands!

As for "is it a good deal?" well it's pretty simple to find that out, check out autotrader!

    Good luck!

Thanks Guys for the advice. This is pretty much like getting a new car I previously had a 95 Infiniti G20T. Things have changed in the last 15yrs. Anyway Thanks for the tips about looking at the dealers. I guess I could call but will be really P**d off if I get all the way to orangeville and they pull their crap. Not interested in taking over a lease(don't want the additional monthly payments).

You brought an interesting point up about warranty. If I get a car with some warranty left and don't have all the maintenance records sounds like I'm going to have problems if I need warranty repairs when required. So it poses the question is finding a car with some warranty left really worth it or should I get a car with a little higher mileage like 60,000km and keep the money in the bank for any major repairs that come up.

Do you guys know if any good used dealers. Spoke to Jeff but he deals in new cars.

    Thx

Remember Mazda powertrain warranty is above the standard 3 years 80000km (I think 160000km). If you buy used I URGE you to find a car with ALL service records. Trust me, if the has had all service done the person selling it will flaunt it when trying to sell it to you....if they don't have all service done, they will stay quiet and hope you don't ask.

I would look at local Mazda dealers around the GTA. Most of the cars they have on their lot have been serviced by them and are trade in's or lease returns. They are probably going to have a higher asking price than a small idependant dealership, but remember the sticker price is the asking price, there is always space for the price to go lower.

Go with a 2010 Demo if you can afford it, 2004-2009 Will all have rust issues that hopefully Mazda has corrected in the design of the new vehicle (2010)
Like the other post said Cash is king - The advertised price is always a cash price, financing & lease are always higher, Good luck.
And if i could just wanna plug Westowne Mazda, they have always been good to me.

when you go there, the car is going to be MIA, its how they attract you, if you were in the market for a new car i would say go there, when you get there ask for the demo and when they tell you its sold act all pissed off and say you bastdards made me drive for an hour for nothing. when i called this morning, i was told that the car was here. then they are going to offer you a good deal on a new one, but don't say yes right away, don't get excited, start talking all in price right away. also go on the last business day of the month. if you go talk to sunny the owner and let me know too, i think they give a referal fee

i took their bait, went up there and they must of sold 10 or more cars that day, i would buy from there again but this time i would know better, but they give me a really good deal so i am not mad at them
