    Default p5 frontend swap

so i just destroyed my front end on my 2002 p5
    i know i know
    its a mazda3 site
but i figured you guys would know best.
is it possible to put a mazda 3 frontend on it?
the newest model is gross, **** an 010'
and the 08 and 09 looks like it forms into the doors and i dont think itd fit,
    maybe an 04-07?
my pops been doing body work for 25 years, and is down to try it, i just want to know if its been done before, and if its worth searching for one.
    let me know please.

    thanks eh!

    Nope. They won't be compatible.

Stick with a P5 front end.

I have absolutely no reference material to back my comments, but I'm 99% sure it will not fit.

Well you obviously aren't to sharp as my age is located to the left. Girls may not be as knowledgeable about cars as guys are in SOME cases, but you would be surprised on how little most young boys like yourself actually know too.

But seriously though. Are you just trying to do a swap or a damaged repair?

The front end of a P5 is much larger. The mounting points will be different. Wiring, etc.

I'm sure there are plenty of P5 bumpers floating around at wreckers on your area.

This should make it visually obvious they will not swap:

yeah i never looked at my friends m3 and my p5 side by side like that, well my bumper grill right light/fog light and the radiator are done for but i havent looked under the hood yet. oh the hoods done for too.

my dad is gonna search some yards threw his work, id rather have an 03 because of the blinker placement, would that take anything more then lengthening a wire or two?

    Have you tried www.toprotege.com?

Someone over there might have a front end - you can also consider an ugrade to an MSP bumper as well....

    Oh?

It can be done with the right amount of $$ and time, however the p5 and the 3 do not share the same chassis, it was not a facelift.

To defend the OP... Answers from the protege board was similar for the P5 lip on the sedan.
Pro2ner was the originator on this project, and shortly everyone followed suit.
Junior has this lip once on sl33per.. come to think of it.. this was Pro2ner's old car.

anything could be done with the right amount of time, money and effort. for instance a previous gen CLK body panels fit nicely on a prev. gen j-body frame. and in your case for whatever won't fit, there's always bondo.

but don't listen to me, us chicks know nothing about cars.

Dedicating time and $$ is one thing, the project looking good is another thing. While that front end swap for the supra looked good, don't know how it's going to look for a mazda3 front end on a protege. Anyone care to photoshop? I'd be pissed big time if i see that the final result's front end doesn't go too well with the body, after all the time and $$ are spent.
