Rust issues on 04's are common. Use our wonderful search feature, and do some reading.

i did some reading but most say "take it to the dealer" or check for recalls, i am just looking for someone who has taken it to an independent body shop and had his or her car repainted and could provide me with some numbers.

On a side note this forum is great i been here for quite a bit and found tons of useful info. and cant wait for an upcoming event and meet some of the people

If you are getting that repaired yourself I would budget at least 2-3 grand, more to do it properly.

    Hey Beatuz
I have the same issue both rear wheel wells and around the rear brake light on the trunk lid.

Please keep me informed if you find a good shop or get a handle on the repair costs..
    Cheers

I had the same exact patches on my 3 as well on the rear right wheel well and along the bumper joint. Took it to this guy in Oakville, can't remember his name but I can get his information for you. I'm not at home right now but once I get back, I'll send it to you. It costed about $500 and just a local respray was included. I got this done last year and I can report no problems so far and the colour match is perfect. He used to do rustwork for Mazda (at a much higher price) but has since gone independent.

all i will say is 6 years unlimited mileage, mazda has extended the warranty for this...its dealt with on a case by case scenario....
take it to your local dealer"s bodyshop and they should take care of you for free....
i had my car done in april/ish of this year...it was 4 months shy of being 6 years old....the repairs alone cost 3+ grand....all covered under warranty....

its a very common problem...do your legwork, its mentioned all over this forum a million gazillion times, kinda sick of hearing it brought up thread after thread after thread....do your homework...
