fog light problem..help

So I picked up some aftermarket fog lights and switch off a friend.

I went to install them today and they didn't work. I tried wiring them with 2 different methods and nothing. I tried to hook them up as independent fogs and also with the switch. I followed these 2 links to a tee to ensure proper installation:

Nothing went on with both of the methods. Could this be the bulbs in the fogs or the factory wiring harness in my car being faulty?

You stated the problem above you have an aftermarket switch. The indy mod will only work with stock fog switch
How many wires are on your aftermarket switch?

If i recal from my 05 their should be 4 wires on the aftermarket switch. Use a volt meter and check continuity between the switch on and off. When you find the 2 prongs that are for the switch connect one to ground and the other to the wire for the indy fog mod and the other 2 are for the illumination

The switch has 3 wires. After following the thread I mentioned, I have one for ground, one for the light which connected to the dimmer, and one for control which connected to the black and red wire within the steering column.

rered my reply as you hooked up the one but you still need the grounding source because you have all the power wires already. I am pretty sure their should be 4 wires on that connector

Sorry, you are correct there are 4 wires. However, about 2 inches up 2 wires are spliced together, so I end up with 3. There are 2 yellow and orange wires spliced into one, one red and one black.

seperate the splice use a volt meter check which 2 wires are on the switch side. hook the one side to the indy mod wire and the opposite to ground and theoretically the setup should work. the way it was prewired was for a positive trigger and you have to use a negative one. the other 2 wires are just for power and ground for the illumination bulb

The 2 wires that are spliced together are for the dimmer control, judging from the link i posted. In that link, he has the same switch and plug as me, except wire colors are a bit different. And looking at his plug for the switch I can see he starts with 4 wires also, and I'm assuming they got spliced a couple inches up as well. Also, in the link he stated u don't have to connect to the dimmer if you don't want the light to come on, so I didn't see that wire as important. So really, don't I already have my wire for the indy mod wire and negative? The other one is just for dimmer?

Did you use the volt meter to check which 2 prongs at for the switch itself? If you didn't please do so. The 2 wires that are joined together go to power because you usually hook up the trigger wire to power but you are doing it backwards. The ground wire will be for the led in the switch to finish the circuit. The joined wires do 2 functions 1 function is to supply power to the led in the switch the second is to provide positive power for the trigger hence why the switch is their. The joined wires must be separated as 1 of the 2 wires are needed to be hooked to ground. When I get home I will draw you a diagram because I don't think you understand what I am trying to get across

This should help you. no need to use the stock wire colour on the stock switch as you have the indy mod so you can connect directly to the aftermarket switch
