Default Importance Of Quality Of A LOC

Alright, so I've followed many DIY on installing subs with a stock head unit. I took off the door panel, ran a wire from the the speaker to the back of the car to a LOC I got at some electronic store, ( active surplus for those who know it.) Signal from the LOC to the amp, and so on. The system works and bumbs, occasionally. Although it really doesn't sound all that good. It sounds really muffled, the speakers will move a LOT without producing all that much sound, I also feel like the response is really slow. As in, it wont pick up and play every "boom" sound, it only picks it up if its a few "booms" in a row. ( if that makes any sense )
My thoughts are that since the LOC is a no name cheap one, it is the reason for this strange sounding system. Although I want to know if quality of an LOC really makes a difference before I go out and by another one. And is there anything else I should check? Also, I only took one channel and just split them to the LOC, ( only got into one door speaker and went with that )
    Thanks all!

I also have a $15 no-name LOC and have no problems.
However, i tapped into both rear speakers and ran it to one amp/sub.

I don’t know what the amp and sub. Actually, in a good sounding system you shouldn’t to hear the subwoofer, there must just appear a low notes and themes of some instruments like organ or contrabass. It’s like you cut the mid-basses by low pass filter. Set there 80 hertz on the low-pass filter if you want to hear low mids from subwoofer.

    Here's a solution I used:
    1) Sold my $50 Stinger LOC
    2) Bought a deck
    3) The difference was like night and day

Buy a deck, even if its a shitty one for $120. You won't look back. Just do it man lol

Hives is right if all your running is a sub and stock speakers the 50 x 4 mosfet in any deck will make a huge diff.

Also as he also stated a $100 deck has one or two pre outs so you'll get 2V to your sub which will clean up everything.
