    Default DIY Car Scratch Repair

Hi. I wonder if anyone has tried using this approach on their scratches. How did it work? How is the area after a few months? What products did you use?

This one is with a buffer.

you would be in big trouble doing this without gauging the paint first. Once you ruin the clear coat, you are bodyshop bound, and by the way, Mazda's dont' have much paint to begin with. By the way, those aren't deep scratches either.

Not only Mazda's unfortunately most cars today don't have a lot of depth in the clear coat, so it is very easy to blow through the clear. Blame it on the new water bourne paints. They can get a deep gloss with less clear.

It's not unrealistic if you know what you are doing. If you don't, this is best left to a professional. Even using 1500 or higher grit it is easy to blow through the clear on any car, not just Mazdas. Once you cut through the clear you need a paint job.

Incidently if you can really feel the scratch with your nail it is usually too deep to sand and buff out.
