Howdy folks,
I'm new to the forums and I figured that I'd do some mod on my Mazda 3 2006 2.0l. So I'm reading on the forums cheap mods and I came across 2 of them. The ETB grounding mod and the Resonator Delete.
So I took out that blood resonator by taking off my front wheel and getting at it through there, one of those screws were a bitch. Thankfully I got it off and the car sounds freaking amazing. It's nice a growly sound in the low to mid revs which is perfect.
I hated the throttle lag that I had so finding it on the forums was great, what was even better was finding out how easy it was, I used 10 gauge wire, attached one end to the TB, ran it through the battery box and attached it to the ground screw that grounds the battery. Note that I unplugged the negative from the battery while doing this.
SO now I'm doing a test drive, car sounds amazing and it's responding like I want it to. Since the battery was unplugged my average fuel consumption was gone, so I figured that I would keep on eye on it.
I drove from Derry on the 427 south to the Gardener, East to the DVP, then North to the 401, then West back to the 427, then North back to Derry, then home.
Here's the issue I have at hand, before I did any of these mods, I got 8.9to 9.0L/100km. I am not getting around 7.5 to 7.7L/100km. No where did I read stated that those mods would increase gas mileage. So I'm wondering if they actually did or if I some how ****ed with my car and messed up the computer that reads fuel consumption.
TL;DR
Did some mods, gas mileage got way better, asking to see if that's normal or if I broke something.
Thanks very much,
