Hot hatch fans have been waiting patiently for Ford to officially reveal its new Focus ST. Well, stop waiting and start securing your deposit, because the Blue Oval brand has finally pulled back the sheet and peeled off the camouflage. The 2012 Ford Focus ST will makes its global debut at this week's 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, and we've got all the details on the hi-po hatchback for you right here.

The Focus ST features a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder under its hood, rated at 247 horsepower and an impressive 265 pound-feet of torque. ford focus st wagonA six-speed manual transmission should pair nicely with the torque-loving engine, which Ford says was painstakingly tuned to produce exquisite engine and exhaust notes by its sound engineers.

All of that go-fast energy is routed to the front wheels, and Ford says it has worked hard to alleviate torque-steer concerns with its electronic power assisted steering and torque steer compensation system. Both systems work together to minimize or eliminate the wheel-tugging effects often associated with higher horsepower front-wheel drivers.

The great news surrounding the 2012 Ford Focus ST is that it will be a global vehicle, sold in 40 markets. Even better news for European long roof fans is that Ford will produce a Focus ST wagon. American wagon fans... maybe you can rent one overseas someday.

I like the seats, albeit not in that colour scheme. Black and red would look sweet though. The rest of the car is pretty ugly IMO and the rims shown are atrociously bad.. This said, I would still give it a long hard look if car shopping.

i wouldn't be surprised if it were the same E-diff from the mk6 GTI as the EcoBoost Focus and the mk5/mk6 GTI use the Bosch MED17 ecu.

The interior console and dash are really interesting. Sideways air vents, 3 lcd screens, and more buttons on the steering wheel than I can count.

But wagons are ugly as shit and the only reason anyone should want one is if it has a huge engine. A hemi for example...

I'm not a huge fan of hatchbacks either. Why does Mazda and Ford not want to make a boosted sedan...wtf..

Hatch looks pretty cool, I wouldnt get wagon though, unless I ever decided to go all out on a sound system. Then it would be sick!

Btw boo yellow and yellow seats lol. it would look great in black

The rear quarter hatch reminds me of the Mitsubishi Lancer hatchback. The interior looks really nice and those seat are very sharp but I don't like the look of the wagon.

Currently in Montreal for business and got a new Focus SEL HB for a rental for the trip down. Got to say that the interior may be busy but the quality is excellent. Had to get used to the Sync system but after a day, its was so easy to use. Very smooth and handles extremely well. Would love to try it in a manual. With the auto and driving at a good 120 clip on the way here and sitting in montreal traffic coming in, I still had 1/4 tank left. Very impressed with the new Focus. The ST is defnintely something I want to look at when it comes out.
