Default help with buying a 2007 Mazda 3

    Dear TM3 friends,

Hopefully this is the right place for this post (I just registered 20 minutes ago).
I am considering buying a Mazda 3, and found this 2007 Mazda 3 from a local dealer.
They provide me with the car proof at here.
The car seems to have a clean history (as of Sep 2011)

    To summarize the basic info:
    year: 2007
    model: mazda3 (3i)
    trim: 2.0 GX
km: 87,000 km (was 68,000 km on 02/01/2011)
    price: $11,900
    carproof: link

    my questions:
    * in the carproof report, it says:
    Country of Origin: Japan
Is this expected for cars sold in Canada?
    * price-wise:
    www.edmunds.com gives a reference price of $9,422
Lemon-aid Used Cars and Trucks has a slightly higher price.
How much do you think can be taken down from the $11,900 offer?

    thanks a lot in advance.
    your help is much appreciated.

    First of all

I haven't been following the market lately. However, I bought my car not too long ago (in Feb).
I think the price is still a bit too high, based on what I paid for my car.
You can definitely push it down even more. The best way is to have patience and "walk" unless they offer you a kickass deal.

Which dealer are you looking at? Maybe there are reviews on the forum on the dealer. That would pretty useful.

    Anyways hope this helps

If you can stand the smell of a new car... a brand new2011 Mazda3 GX with 20kms on it will run you only $6000 more (or less)... and it has full warranty and no history.
    Damn you photobucket.....

When I bought my car, the dealer said all Mazda's where made/assembled in Japan, so yes that would be correct.

I hate to say it (as I was trying to sell my 2007 Mazda3GT just recently), but yes you can get the car for cheaper. It sucks (for those selling) because Mazda3's are a dime a dozen now. They are the next generation of Civics. Great reliable cars by all means, but because there are soooooo many out there in the market, Mazda3's do not hold their value.

I've been watching Autotrader on a monthly basis since February of this year as my plan was to sell it towards the end of this year. My car currently has just over 80,000kms. Back at the beginning of the year, they were selling anywhere between $13k-$16k. Now, you can see them as low as $8k. (That's comparing it to the year, model, and kms of my car).

    Thanks.
I was able to verify this by checking basic info of car proof (free of charge) of several cars.

    Thanks for the reply.
It gives me a very good comparison basis for bargaining.

    Hi Hg,

Thanks for the reply and the tip.

Yes I do find it more pricey here.
I am actually looking around in N.B. (nowhere near Toronto).
So I doubt there will be any comments on the dealers here.

From my understanding 2007 was the "off-lease" year for 2011. But sept is when the next year car models come out. So after sept, there's a huge price drops of the previous year (2007) hence the $15k to $8k, Now the 2008 off leases will come in and will have huge stock.

    Maybe wait for 2008?

Sucks in your situation tho, GLWS

Last year got the same car ( I think) with 79000 k for 10 ish. So if in your market that car sounds right you should be able to bring them down to that.

But if Jeff is saying a 2011 can go for 6k in Toronto it would be worth it for you to fly here and drive it back to NB. you could drive back in about a day with aprox $100ish gas. Nice road trip.

I bought a 07 2.3 GT hatch in june for the same price. It had 79 984km on it when i picked it up, 80k km by the time i got it home. I would hope you could get the price down a fair bit.

    Let me retype this...

a Brand new 2011 Mazda3 GX with 20.0 kms on it will cost you $6000 more than the 2007 GX you are looking at... or it may even cost you less than $6000 more..

Haha I thought it made sense the first time.

But is it even possible to buy a new car without seeing the seller? Have the seller ship it to N.B. and have him pick it up there?
