    Smile First time mod, questions.

Alright so, I want to mod my 07 speed3. I am planning on getting this http://www.mazdaspeedstore.com/mazda...epo-p-229.html

    Included:
    - turboxs DP
    - turboxs RP
    - turboxs cat back exhaust
    - turboxs CAI

    Additional Mods:
    - turboxs H-M speed BOV
    - cobb turbo inlet hose

    Question:

    1. Does this seem good?
    2. Will it give me any troubles?
    3. Anything else I would need in order to make this a succesful setup?

    COBB AP and HPFP?

(speed3ers please correct me if I am mistaken...)

EDIT: Oh, and I would imagine you would also want to upgrade the RMM, if not all of them.

HPFP with DP is a must from my reading. AP before anything listed.

AP = AccessPort (a tuning tool used to modify the stock fuel/ignition/etc maps on the car)

HPFP, You can get a whole pump from CPw (Pricey IMO) or you can get internals. The 2 big players that do internals are Autotech and KMD. I am personally running a KMD set and are amazing. Install's not too hard however if youre new to modding (or atleast MS3 Modding) I would recommend Jimmy @ Street Performance to install them.

Reliability on Internals I find are more to do with installation then the part it self. Not to say the parts cant fail, but 90% of the time the install was done poorly and leads to failure down the road.

Alright thank you and is it hard or easy to tune your car with the AP, and would a 550cc hpfp be good?

If you've never tuned a car before, it can be rather difficult if you don't know what to do/where to start. Since my AP showed up last week, I'm just about to jump in with a MAF cal this weekend, but I have read the noob guide to tuning on MSF at least 5 times now and I think I understand the basics. I would suggest reading the guide and seeing if it's something you're comfortable doing. If not, you'll need to take your car to a tuner.

MSpeed tuning on here provides a great tuning service and isn't that much $$. Most, if not all the high powered MS3's on this site have been tuned by them.

    +1

the minute you go downpipe you'll absolutely need a tune. and it is highly recommended with even just intake upgrades to get the most power and safety out of it. you need an accessport to do that. alphamotorsports had a deal on AP's along with custom tuning from mspeed as a package deal, and then they also had another blowout price on just AP's alone last week. (or was it this week? need coffee...)

    IMHO:

    Stage 1 upgrades:
    short ram intake (SRI)
rear motor mount (RMM) + synthetic transmission fluid recommended (trust me on this one)
    turbo inlet pipe/hose (TIP/TIH) optional
    upgraded blowoff/bypass valve optional
    Cobb AccessPort (AP)

    Stage 2 upgrades:
    hpfp required
    downpipe (DP)
    catback exhaust (cbe) optional
upgraded top mount or front mount intercooler (tmic/fmic) optional
    upgraded blowoff/bypass valve required

    Stage 2+
    Methanol injection
    Upgraded turbo manifold

    Big boy mods:
    Big boy turbo

but hey don't take it from me -- mspeed mod path series: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/sh...od-Path-Series

Is there a reason you want turboxs everything? Other decent brands to consider would be cobb, cp-e

I'm going to very honest and blunt here.

from the questions you're asking, you have no clue about tuning or what's involved. which is absolutely fine, since it's alot of fun and everyone has to start at the beginning at some point.

I strongly suggest you learn to tune your car with the current mods before you jump straight into the power mods and blow up your shit. Do some reading up on the Cobb Accessport, what it does, how it's used, etc. and then go from there. There's a wealth of information on this forum alone, I suggest you start reading.

    Here, start of with this.

Good read, lots of information. If you can, print out a copy of that and start reading. I haven't gotten my AP yet but, I'm pretty much preparing myself for the inevitable (tuning for more power that is).

alot of that tuning logic has since changed with the release of the newer calibrations (maps) but it's still a good read, and a great way to get your feet wet. lol

Read up on mspeeds tuning series first.
then go on mazdaspeed forums, dont donate, and ask this same question. heh

The fact that you want to buy that stage 2 package and have no idea about the hpfp shows that you are a little too eager to get into modding your car. It can be dangerous, and stage2 with no fuel pump = blowing shit up.
Oh damn, that sucks. Oh well, I stopped reading the Speed section because according to certain people only speed owners are allowed to even look at that section.

Take it slow... thats the fun of modding. Read up on everything before you put it on the car. Simple as that.

Exactly, still a good read for beginners like moi, especially for the terms/acronyms and whatnot..

Also, as breakfasteatre mentioned, search MSpeeds Tuning Series (link included).
