Hey! So I've been on these forums for quite some time now, usually just reading posts and reviews on Mazda 3 (posting occasionally). I am currently financing a 2004 M3 with 135,000 kilometres. To date, I've had it for two years and still owe about $7000 to the loan company (yes, I'm upside down now as the value for my 3 is about $3500).
Last year I had to get new brakes (pads, rotors, other stuff), $700 and also my suspension needed fixing, which was $400. Thus, I spent $1100 on car repairs in 2011.
Now, as I reflect on the amount of money I still owe and the money I needed to put into fixing my car last year, I've considered trading up for a 2012 GS-SKY. Based on my research by starting a new lease I could have the remaining loan applied to a new lease. And heck, if I decided to finance the leftover loan would also be added. Also, it is worth mentioning that with the rebates and the cost I could potentially negotiate to, it will still not add up to the amount I still owe for my loan... which could be bad.
The way I see it is I could get rid of my loan (by leasing) and also ensure I have all major repairs taken care of on account of the warranty. I do understand that I may have to pay more for insurance and also the monthly payments will undoubtedly be more but is that worth the peace of mind?
Your help and insight would be great. Also, I've paid close attention to paragraph breaks and spelling so I do not get insulted, haha.
