That doesn't sound good. Obviously you'll never be able to prove they did anything wrong unless you happened to catch it on cellphone video or something, but it sounds like they shorted something out - there is no other reason to see sparks while installing a grounding kit.
What would J.R. Ewing do in this situation?
The question which unlocks the solutions to all life's problems.
2006 GT Sedan - Sharkfin - NRG catch can - Spin On Conversion - 10" Pioneer Sub w/ Ported Box - Pioneer speakers and components - Ballistic sound deadening front and back doors - Fujita F5 CAI - L.E.D. tails & 3rd Brake light - Redline Tuning Hood Struts - TWM short shifter - Vibrant Stut Bar...for now
Did you ever get this problem figured out and/or fixed?
Sounds like a nightmare.
yes i did it was a blown starter i guess it short circuited it oh well .
150 for starter and 60 for the grounding kit install = 210 of useless ness
i now adapted the motto if it aint broke dont fix it meaning no more usless mods for me , the mazda 3 is as good as it can,
Just need to replace the rear shocks , and get new brake pads and rotors anyone know of a good place ?
^ Altech on Weston LOL
they replaced the starter for 150 ? did they give you back the old starter ?
if they replaced it for 150 they probably installed it for free out of good will
was a brand new starter ? used ? or rebulit?
should swing it by another shop to make sure they actually changed the starter
but from your previous post if the power steering was cutting on and off sounds like the grounding kit wasnt tighten properly to battery which would also cause a no start and the TB codes.
Information is missing on this story because a starter does not just fry itself. After all the starters ground is the engine itself. Something doesnt make sense to me in this situation
1991 Nissan Pathfinder - trade in, 2005 Mazda 3 GX ty grey - Write off, 2010 Mazda 3 GT E sedan CWP- trade in, 2010 Speed 3 w/tech CWP - Up for sale (soon), 2007 Mazda 3 GS silver- motor swapped in to 2009 MS3 CWP that had blown engine, 2002 BMW 330ci silver- new winter ride, 2005 BMW M3- new toy
I'm new to the car's internals and I'm curious..what does this "big 3" kit do? Are the connecting parts not properly grounded? What does this aftermarket item do as opposed to the stock fittings? Des this have to do with static venting?
