    Default Shimmy between 80-120kph

    Hi all,

    Just got new tires from SimplyTire, And they shimmy the steerwheel a fair bit.

    Sent him an e-mail, replied promptly, and Was back in there to get them re-balanced. The steeringwheel still shakes between 80-120.

    What components of the car could cause this to happen other than the tires?

    Here's what Allen sent me:

    ==========

    Our Roadforce would have detected any problems with your wheel/tire assembly... Lou told me everything checked out with flying colors... I think there may be other issues. Maybe ball joint/ controlarm bushings. Having your winter tires on, sometimes hides those issues... Softer compound, and bigger sidewalls can mask undelying issues the cars suspension can have.

    I'm going to pull the report from your roadforce and examine it carefully, i will email u back.

    ==============

    The only thing that bugs me, is that the problem wasn't nearly as bad with my Bald, worn out bridgestone Protenza before I went in there. Why would new tires compound a suspension issue if there was one? Wouldn't the addition of tread hide the issue like winter tires? Why wasn't it bad when I drove in there with my bald summer tires?

    Now, if the roadforce says the tires check out, I believe it - That thing is amazing.

    So My question is: Where should I start looking for the culprit to my wheel shake?

    I'm going to rotate my tires to see if the issue goes away - Maybe its a flaw with one of the tires that the balancing machine can't find.

    Easiest thing is rotate fronts to back. If the shake moves from the wheel to the seat of your pants, its a rim/tire.

    If the shake stays in the wheel, its something on that axle.

    Problem is I feel it a bit in my butt as well. But I'll see if it gets better/worse/different.

    Thanks
