    Default Morning Rant

WTF....people have no common courtesy anymore. Going in to get a morning coffee (which I rarely do anyways), this uptight looking girl zooms in before me, opens the door, clearly sees me behind her and doesn't hold it. On the way out, some dude does the same thing. People are seriously messed up, no wonder people get mugged or attacked in the city and nobody comes forward or even helps out, everyone seems to be just looking out for themselves.

    End rant.......

Ha youre absolutely right, i find it so funny how when I hold a door for someone or do anything that shows common courtesy they seem to give me a look like why are doing this? I was always raised to show courtesy and hold doors for people and be polite, its just common for me now, but people seem to wonder what your angle is when doing it, Its funny some of the looks you get haha

ugh yeah people in TO are especially horrible for that kind of thing. I was really glad to move out of the city after dealing with that sort of behavior on the TTC every day.

People would literally squeeze SIDEWAYS through a closing door, just so they wouldn't have to hold it open. WTF!!! lol, it takes LESS effort to just kick the door open behind you with your foot...

Don't let it ruin your day. She's obviously a miserable bitch who isn't getting much out of life. lol

Speaking of TTC...my backpack sorta bumped a guy who was standing behind me, and I felt and looked back and he sorta bumped it back on purpose. Luckily I wasn't in "money" mayweather type of mood otherwise I woulda knocked that bald business dude out.

heh seriously eh bman? Gotta love the TTC to get to school at rush hour

It was crowded one time and I took my backpack OFF so that I gave the person behind me some room and people see this and begin to fill that tiny gap by pushing me into the pole and stealing the pole! lol

Ok lets see if I can help you out with any of these:

    1. What's wrong with the world, there's a short answer and an extremely long answer. The short answer is credit, credit is what is wrong with the world. For the long answer it'd better be over a beer an chicken wings because my keyboard would probably fail before I could type out the answer.

    2. Technically (no reason from a technological standpoint) there is absolutely no reason why you can not have one mounted on your car, legally that is a different story. The closest is in south Africa, there are a few car mod companies that have some pretty effective anti car jacking devices will post link soon

    3. lol who doesn't but maybe we can try to get a sponsor on here that works for a travel agency? flight centre, or travelocity or something!

Toronto isn't bad, just cuz somone doesn't hold a door open for you is no reason to fly off the handle. ppl shouldn't get so upset over such small things. ive been to all towns around toronto and its the same if not worse. is it that hard to open a door yourself? these days ppl just look for reasons to get mad, over nothing.

14 Pedestrian deaths this year... That should answer your question... People seem to not care, and thats why the world is currently going crazy.

Even Christmas not a lot of people doing good deeds.

I think another 40 day 40 night flood is going to happen in several years..

Im with you man... People these days are selfish and inconsiderate.

Not entirely true, people have always had a tendency to be selfish and inconsiderate, the thing is that in the past (not even that long ago) there was a certain amount of interdependancy that you had to have just to survive. What I mean is that with technology the way it is, and in the socialist paradise that is canada, I don't have to be nice or get along with people to survive. The government will, give me a place to live, the food bank will give me food, salvation army/goodwill will give me clothes. I want something I go online and order it, I don't have to talk to/ interact with another person therefore my social graces start to deteriorate, if I ever had any to begin with.

100 years ago if people were to be as self centred and inconsiderate as they behaved now unless you were wealthy you couldn't get away with it. Firstly you wouldn't have had a union that would have protected you when your lazy ass fell asleep on the job. So you get fired, you have no job, there's no such thing as social assistance, there's no food bank, there's no salvation army. If you don't get back up on your feet yourself you die. So back then it was in your best interest to be polite, to be considerate because if you got the reputation of being an then cut off from the rest of society you'd be done, unless of course you were rich in that case, then like now money talks

That's not really the point. It's the fact that you used to have people looking out for others or just generally being kind. Is it hard to open a door yourself? No. Is it hard that if you open the door and see someone else only a few feet away, to stay there a couple extra seconds to hold it open for them? IE being nice? No. But people don't do this anymore.

I used to work downtown and took the GO train home at night. At my stop, everyone is in a hurry to leave since they don't want to wait in the car to get where they are going...which is understandable. It used to be "common courtesy" to at least push the door open all the way and keep your hand there as you walked by to keep the door open longer so everyone could keep walking. If there was no one there, door closes and no big loss. If someone was there, it means that no one has to take those extra seconds to stop and push the door open. It's not really NEEDED but it was the nice thing to do. Now? No one does that. You do that and the next person will just walk through without even touching the door.

Another example. At my old house, we used to have neighbors that would look out for each other. When we heard a car accident one day, everyone rushed out to make sure the people were alright and called for help. At this new place, in similar situations only a couple years later. No one helps. Only we called for help when someone had a minor accident, no one came out to look. We even get people calling the town when a person is parked even 1 min over the 3 hour limit.

It's really a shame that this is where the world is going. Where everyone is so concerned with themselves and not willing to help out others...even if it's just something minor as holding a door open to be kind.

Attitude like this is the reason this city is turning into a shitty place to live.

I have a lot of patience and am very forgiving... Always have an always will, so a incident described in the OP would not get me upset. It's common courtesy, nothing more, nothing less. If people lose the ability to be courteous to other people, well... don't even want to think of what kind of city/world this would be.

I once held the door for an older lady... She looked at me and said "I see Chivalry is not dead". It's been more then 5 years since then and every time some body doesn't return the favor, or say a "thank you" after i hold the door, i remind myself of that old lady.

no buddy i never said i wouldn't hold a door open for somone, i always do when i can, what im saying is just cuz somone doesn't hold a door open doesn't make it right to get mad over it, if i held a door open for somone while i was walking into a store and then on my way out somone let it shut on me i wouldn't care, im not gonna cry and complain over somthing so small. you shouldn't expect somone to do somthing for you, if they do then thats nice if they don't doesn't make them an *******. makes you an ******* for getting mad over such a small thing. ill admit there are asshats all over the place but i don't let them bother me. specially over somthing like that.
